| Personal blog updated January 10 2012 This page is about a local scammer and fraudster called David Kappel (aka Richard Cosworth and Pieter Denaag - see below), who lives in a hamlet above Apricale. For several years he has polluted the AngloInfo Liguria Forum with vapid outpourings from a whole range of invented characters, but recently his attention has been diverted by a new obsession. Although a nearby resident, David Kappel is engaged in a one-man crusade to spoil the reputation of Ventimiglia. The reason is buried deep in his psyche (he is a paranoid schizophrenic), and is probably an attempt to prevent English visitors and potential house buyers from considering the town, mostly as revenge on other local residents who he would like to harm. The technique he uses is to populate the AngloInfo forum with fake characters and post mocking or defamatory messages about Ventimiglia and Italy in general. The names to look out for are:

Fabrice - popgoestheweasel - Joanne S Linda Frobisher - maharajah There are several more he uses less, and new ones appear regularly. After a while it gets easy to spot them as the style is always the same, as are the complaining nature of the posts and the frequent multiple posts from the same 'person'. None of them ever have a good word to say about the country or the town. AngloInfo has recently got its act together and is starting to removes these posts as they appear.  This is a picture of Mr Kappel taken in December 2011. When not trying to poison Ventimiglia's reputation he engages in various petty scams, mostly involving computers and the Internet. The picture was taken at Fusion in Monaco in December 2011, where he was pretending to be a certain Richard Cosworth (who does not in fact exist). He also pretends to be called Pieter Denaag. If you recognise him he is best avoided. Under no circumstances let him near your computer as he will quickly install spyware that could reveal personal details to him.
