| Misuse of public forums |
| |
| This activity is mainly a
nuisance but it does have potential dangers. AngloINFO run forums in
each of their franchise areas, and some are more successful than
others. The French Riviera forum is busy day and night, while the
Liguria one can go for days without any new messages appearing. If you use AngloINFO Liguria you may have felt that some of the contributors are a little strange. One in particular has attracted attention; this is "Linda Frobisher" who posts on both Ligurian and the Riviera and signs off with the nauseating "Youngish and in love" or some such variant. People on both forums have noticed how false this character seems; supposedly a young professional woman but with a boyfriend (Other Half) who appears to contribute nothing, just exist. Linda has no interest in female things, preferring to talk about scrap yards and horse manure in spite of a business life taking her regularly to New York. She is however exceedingly generous, laying on free minibuses with drivers to collect partygoers from italy to a destination in France and take them home at the end of the evening. Another odd contributor is "Terry Waters". This person turned up early in 2008 as a professional IT person moving to Liguria to run his business, and had a budget of a half-million euros or more to buy a house somewhere near Apricale. At that time he was asking for CVs from IT professionals so I sent off mine. No reply came so I complained about it being impolite and calling into question whether he was genuine. In reply came a torrent of abuse, including the rather silly statement that in his business one had to hide behind anonimity. In no posting since then has "Terry" ever hinted about his business and no further attempt has been made by him to contact other professionals, though he pops up on the Liguria forum from time to time to ask about trivial domestic matters, usually involving substantial cash outlay, when any sensible (rich) person would hire a local expert rather than expect to find answers on the Liguria forum. This is indeed a bizarre way of running a business. (under construction) Back |
